Our digestive health is directly related to our body's immunity, our body's power to heal, and the mind's ability to analyze situations.
Some of the reasons behind bad gut health are:-
Skipping meals or starving.
Over-eating or eating before the previous meal has been fully digested.
Irregular diet patterns; eating more at times, eating less at other times.
An excess of cold, dry and heavy foods in continuity without following dietary rules.
Eating foods with qualities opposite to your body constitution.
Ayurvedic advice on what to eat for better gut health. Ayurveda Doctor near me
1. Cow Ghee (Clarified Butter) –
Ghee is the ancient superfood and the world is slowly realizing this. It has the innate qualities of healing the gut and forming a protective layer in the intestines. Scientifically speaking, ghee is rich in butyric acid, a short-chain fatty acid that nourishes the cells of the intestines. It boosts the digestive fire and improves digestion. Don't forget to include 3-4 tsp of Cow ghee in your daily diet. You can simply add it to your curries, dals, or feast upon ghee rice that tastes like it comes down straight from heaven.
2. Buttermilk –
Buttermilk has wonderful qualities of reviving gut health. It is helpful in tackling severe cases of indigestion and other problems like IBS. For best results, it is advisable to consume freshly churned buttermilk. Avoid the consumption of refrigerator-stored buttermilk. Include one glass of fresh buttermilk in your post-lunch regimen daily.
3. Ginger Root –
A small piece of ginger before a meal boosts the Agni (digestive fire) and stimulates the salivary glands so the process of digestion begins properly from the mouth itself. Ginger tastes best with a pinch of “Saindhav Lavana” or Rock Salt. Rock Salt is the healthiest version of salt and should be a part of your diet every day.
Including these foods in your diet is a good way of ensuring that your guts are happy!

Curd (Dadhi) –
Curd, as #Ayurveda advice, should not be taken alone. It should always be taken along with either honey/ghee/sugar/amla powder/rock salt or moong soup (mudga yush).
